SCOUT / WHAT WE OFFER

on

Creative thinking is our specialty.

In short, we offer ideas. Good ones. Great ones. Even weird ones.

From those we're able to develop entire marketing platforms from which our clients are able to launch complete campaigns.

We'll develop intriguing content for your site, social outlets, storefront, print ads, brochures, videos - you name it.

When it comes to the nuts and bolts of technical development, we work from a progressive perspective, always pressing forward to exploit new and exciting technologies. Lately that means expoiting everything HTML5 and CSS3 have to offer, but we've got our eyes on what's next.

Because of the constant and increasing opportunity to reach consumers through mobile devices, we retain a Responsive approach to development whenever possible. What this means to you is maximum exposure to consumers on small or large form-factor browsing devices with your campaigns.

Welcome to the Ranch!

Scout Idea Ranch is a free-range idea ranch.

Everything we do is driven by an obsession with informed design and doing our part to make the day-to-day a little more interesting.

We work with a host of clients from restaurants to solar energy. When we're not working, we're perusing the latest global trends in all aesthetics from fashion to architecture; from product design to music - we absorb basically anything at all that will enable us to apply our talents and experience to meet your needs.

We’re a full-service design and marketing boutique with a Digital Nucleus. What does that mean? It all starts in the digital world for us. But it doesn't have to end there!

We're problem solvers at heart. Oftentimes we solve problems that weren't asking to be solved.

We're able to execute across diverse media, including digital, print and video. Lately, we've been dabbling in woodwork. So whatever it is that you need to help your brand shine, there's no harm in asking - we probably do it!

Best of all, we are a cruelty-free idea ranch.

Max Bean has been working in “online” since before 468x60 and 10K were the standard and an entire website fit on a floppy disk (and, yes, he knows that none are the standard any longer). He worked as an Associate Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather after helping to open Organic’s newly formed Los Angeles office, which was embedded with BBDO to service Mitsubishi Cars. He has worked with some of the industry’s trailblazing interactive shops such as Lot 21, Left Field, Thrivepoint & EVB (which he also co-founded). When a new ownership group took over the legendary Chicago Stuffed Pizza brand, they took on several initiatives to bring the property up-to-date.

Scout was tapped to redesign their aging site and bring some life to the brand online. Part of the strategy included a way for each of the 40+ fracnhises to have thier own personalized page on the site, which included not only contact and location information, but local landmarks, specials, and the ability to text (SMS) the information to your phone for future reference.

Over the past few years we've built and kept the site evolving as their needs require, including the integration of several third-party APIs for everthing from online ordering to tracking their food truck.

We designed the experience home page and provided guidelines for their MediaWiki and timelime pages that were powered by Open Source solutions.

Designs and guidelines were handed off to the team at Placements Media for development and deployment.

ADN GUARDHOUSE

on

featured

From 1971 until 1992, the GUARDHOUSE was located at the parking lot entrance of the headquarters of the General German News Service (ADN Allgemeiner Deutscher Nachrichtendienst) in East Germany.

Artist Christof Zwiener acquired the last standing guardhouse in June 2013 before its destruction and transformed it into a temporary exhibition space, inviting 10 artists to explore themes of state surveillance and the use of public spaces in Berlin following the reunification of Germany in 1989.

Beginning in September 2014, the ADN GUARDHOUSE travelled to Berlin’s sister city Los Angeles to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall where it will be on view in various locations throughout Los Angeles County, including ESMoA, in cooperation with the Wende Museum in Culver City. While in Los Angeles, Zwiener will continue to explore the consequences of social and political changes in collaboration with international artists Bernd Trasberger, Sonya Schönberger, and Friedrich Kunath.

The journey of the GUARDHOUSE will conclude with the ceremonial transfer to the Wende Museum where it will be permanently installed in the museum’s sculpture garden.

The ADN Pförtnerhaus (ADN GUARDHOUSE) is a project of the artist Christof Zwiener, with the generous support of the Wende Museum, Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Villa Aurora, ESMoA, the cities of Los Angeles, El Segundo and Culver City.
